Great songs, special day!

Today is my birthday!
I wish I could have a big party with all of you here.
I figured this would be a good day to share my list of the music I am currently listening to.

I was tagged a while ago by opentext, with an approximation of the Musical Meme: List ten songs or albums that you are currently enjoying. It doesn’t matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they’re no good but they must be songs/albums you’re enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the ten songs in your blog. Explaining your choices is optional. Then tag five other random people to see what they’re listening to.

Now you will notice that I have more than ten songs, but I couldn't limit it to just ten. My range is wide and there are many more frequent favorites not listed, but I had to stop somewhere. My boyfriend and I will often listen to classical, especially in the car after a long day. It can be very soothing.

Ok, well here it is:

1. Blue Oyster Cult ~ Don’t Fear the Reaper
All time number one song I listen to. Just awesome. Sexy song!

2. Kelly Clarkson ~ Since You’ve Been Gone
Powerful voice, energetic song. She has an awesome range in her voice.

3. Creed ~ Higher
Love the instrumental right before he starts singing. This one, I love to close my eyes and let it flow in.

4. Puddle of Mudd ~ She Hates Me
Love the way this one starts off so mild, then breaks loose. Just love it. (A great one to sing really loud in the car by yourself)

5. Green Day ~ American Idiot
Awesome beat, gives me energy.

6. Edwin McCain ~ I’ll Be
I can harmonize with him. My boyfriend likes to hear me sing this one.

7. John Mayer ~ Your Body is a Wonderland
Talk about sexy song. Ummmmmm!

8. Stroke 9 ~ Little Black Back Pack
Fun, makes me sing out loud with this one.

9. Jethro Tull ~ War Child
Ian Anderson, one of the all time greats in my opinion. Reminds me of a sort of Renaissance time that rocks. Unique sound with the fantastic flute.

10. The Killers ~ Mr. Brightside
Good beat, can’t sit still listening to this one.

11. Train ~ Meet Virginia
A classic that I love to sing along with.

12. ACDC ~ Back in Black, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,
You Shook Me All Night Long
I cannot listen to just one ACDC song. Very dynamic.

13. Billy Idol ~ White Wedding
Another sexy husky voice, just a great song.

14. Maroon 5 ~ Harder to Breathe, She will be Loved, This Love
I like this band. Just makes me happy when I hear their music.

15. The Doors ~ Light my Fire, People are Strange
Very laid back, distinct style.

These are not in preference order. I love them all. Since I recently tagged several of you to list your top five favorite songs, I won't tag any of you now. Please feel free to share your favorites. I would love to see what you are into.

Avik ~ Thank you so much! I have a lot of wishes, but I am patient!

Carl ~ Thank you and no big plans, if all of you were here, we would have a party. Sounds like we have similar taste in music (for the most part). Yes, I am a huge Dave Matthews fan too.

Mojo ~ Thank you and you are welcome. =)

Jef ~ Thank you very much.

Becky said...

Goodness, we have very very similar taste in music for sure. You have good taste! New is not always good is my theory! ;-) I would have come to the party! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Lee Ann said...

Becky ~ I like "almost" all music. I am not a big fan of Country/Bluegrass or Rap/Hiphop. I like pretty much everything else though. Thank you for the birthday wish :)

Looks like we have the same dislikes in music too... Not that I dislike all country, or hip hop, there's always at least one good song among the categories, on a whole I prefer, alternative, oldies (including 50's-90's music), and some hard rock, like Metallica. I'm not too awful picky though either.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Lee Ann, Happy Birthday to you! And MANY MORE!!! :-D

Lee Ann said...

Dave ~ Thank you very much! I thought you sang it wonderfully, no need to go back into hiding ;P Thanks again.

Becky ~ You are right, there is a couple of songs from the "dislikes" categories that I listen to. You sang it great too. We definitely have some talented people here :) Thanks again!

Hi Lee Anne! Happy birthday to you!! Your list (I hadn't heard of more than four of the artists!) has made me think I might ask how the music making thing works around here! Hope you had a good day! Hotboy

Lee Ann said...

Hotboy ~ Thank you very much! Just out of curiosity which ones from my list have you heard of?

1, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15 are pretty old groups. (60's 70's 80's). The rest are from more recent ~90s to current.

I will post my songs tomorrow since i posted today!! HAVE A GREATTT DAY!!!

Lee Ann said...

Kay Ray ~ Thanks a bunch! I look forward to seeing your song list. You have a great day too.

LA - I'm glad you cheated and went over 10, so you could squeeze in the Doors. As you say, once you get started 10 seems too limiting. I think I might just cheat, and tag myself again.

Like hotboy, the 90s and 00s artists are new to me. To me REM is recent. The only new stuff I've enjoyed is and Mars Volta (not recommended if you're feeling fraught). We don't get much music down here in the UnHeard Of Islands. Occasionally an aircraft carrier cruises these waters, and we can pick up their DJs for a few hours.

Thank goodness for illegal downloading, so I'll be able to check out Kelly Clarkson, she's the Ozzy Osbourne daughter, right?

Are you a Libran, or just on the cusp? Excuse my confusion, but it's the next day here, and I'm never sure whether Blogger is using US time or Greenwich time or whatever.

A big Happy Birthday to you. May CPE Bach hijack your radio and bring you even more happiness.

Lee Ann said...

Robmcj ~ Thank you very much. I am a Virgo! (on the cusp).
You are thinking of Kelly Osborne (Ozzy's daughter). Kelly Clarkson was the first winner of the TV show American Idol. She is young, pretty, and has a powerful voice.

That is so funny about the djs on the aircraft carrier.
Thank you again for the birthday wishes.

Lee Ann said...

"html#live" is the last part of that url for Kelly Clarkson -starts right after the ".j"
Sorry I couldn't add it as a link.

robmcj said...

I only saw the Idol where a woman called Carrie looked like she was going to win it, and even then I missed the last few episodes. She certainly deserved to win.

Happy Birthday Dude! And it's good to know that you're down with the B.O.C.!

Lee Anne: I saw the Doors at the Isle of Wight, 1970. Best show ever. Friends of mine totalled a car after a Jethro Tull Concert in 1969. Billy Idol I've heard of and know what he looks like, but never listened to. Ac/Dc I remember because of the great name and the wee boy with the school uniform on. I am going to find out how the music thing in here works today. I've got three cds of Tibetan Temple music I can't listen to. Also, Sister Ray for the next time the pollutants hit the brain! Hotboy

I'm a day late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Wouldn't that be the coolest/oddest thing if all us bloggers assembled for a party, a meet and greet, even surrounding your party? What an idea.

You have a very mixed bag of songs, which I dig. Lots of good ones in there (My Little Black Back Pack I haven't heard in forever).

Lee Ann said...

robmcj ~ yes, Carrie Underwood is her name and she did win (4th season). She is very talented. Her expertise is in "Country".

Jiggs ~ Thank you very much! Yes Blue Oyster Cult is one of my favorites for sure.

Hotboy ~ I kind of thought those would be the ones you had heard of. You should listen to some of Billy Idol. I think White Wedding is my favorite one of his. I saw Jethro Tull in concert, truly one of the best I had ever seen. I also saw ACDC in concert...another awesome show. I wish I had been able to see the Doors in concert, but they were a little before my time :(

Blake ~ Thank you for the birthday wish. Wouldn't that be awesome to have a party and meet everyone? See now I have you thinking about that song. You are going to have to listen to it now! Thanks again.

Happy belated birthday!

Man, you wouldn't have liked my review of Maroon 5 that I did for Epinions. I kind of ripped them. I just find them boring. I do love "Harder to Breathe" though.

Good to see Kelly Clarkson on there. :)

Lee Ann said...

BeckEye ~ Thanks for the birthday wish! I didn't see your review, but its a good thing in a way. Just like chocolate and's better to have a variety to choose from or life would be too dull. Kelly has an awesome voice =)
