Indoor Ski Resort in Dubai.
Netlore Archive: Emailed images chronicle the completion of a massive indoor ski resort built on desert sands in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
AN ENGINEERING MASTER PIECE During the construction phase...... Dubai , United Arab Emirates
All finished. Notice the palm trees outside..........
Remember, this is in the middle of the desert.... The very HOT desert where temperatures get up to 120 degrees..... Unbelievable! But true.....
The INSIDE view:
Why is gasoline $2.39 a gallon for regular unleaded?????? Supply and demand??? That must be it.... we want them to supply us with the oil and they demand that we pay the price!

They got us bent over a barrel.
They DON'T have us over a barrel....we've done this to ourselves. Just a simple change of driving habits...like simply following the speed limits, studies have shown a 20% decrease in usage.
Mass transit in this country is inferior as well.
Gas went down to $1.99 a gallon this weekend. It almost made me want to drive around, empty my full tank, and re-fill so that I could feel like I was getting a deal. Or, rethink that vacation I've been putting off.
Polyman2 - :D Ditto.
Well, Mike, you're right and wrong. Yes, we are the reason they can charge so much, but we've also let the fox in the henhouse.
Where we're very wrong: the Bush gov't. is afraid to try to decrease demands, because (remember) Bush Sr. is a consultant and good friend to the House of Saud. Also, the automakers are Big Business, and B.B. is a friend of the current administration, I am sorry to say.
So... there is no real motivation to encourage the consumer to cut back on consumption (remember the lead-foot commercials of the 70s?) or to buy more economical cars instead of hummers, massive trucks, and vans that usually only have one occupant.
i wanna hang with the dude in the polar bear suit..
Poly ~ It is a spectacular monstrosity, isn't it?
Joe ~ I agree
Mike ~ Mass transit....in my area is almost non existent. I think we should have a skii lift type transit that goes everywhere across the nation. Instead of chairs, we could have little boxed in compartments. Now that is an idea isn't it? ;)
Ellen ~ I have yet to see the prices drop that low in our area, but they have gotten a bit lower lately! You are right though, it doesn't hurt quite as much to fill up.
Saur ~ Very good points! There is a lot of relationship with the government in the oil industry.
Jams ~ Would you dress up too? Oh, maybe as one of those adorable snow seals! Sooooo cute!
Emily ~ I bet it was amazing to see how this was built. I am sure there is no lack of funds! Thank you for stopping by the Castle, I hope you will come by more often.
IMHO: At least they don't set fire to their oil fields like Saddam Hussein did. And unlike most oil states at least they are investing a lot in their wider economy - tourism, construction, etc. And I'd rather they spent it on desert ski slopes than on grants to Hamas and gifts for suicide bombers' families.
If we don't like the oil price, we could have been developing alternative energy sources since the '70s.
PS - The U.S. and the UnHeard OF Islands are also exporters of oil (about 1 million barrels a day leave the U.S.), so we are earning the same high prices on the stuff we sell.

you said it lee ann. that's why I don't own a car. I don't want people in dubai enjoying snow.
I have a buddy who just got back form dubai. He was selling jets to the people over there. What a wild place (according to his email!)
Sebben & Sebben sued Big Oil once.
We lost big time, Birdman almost got fired.
Jon ~ Yeah, what a scary thought! Even scarier vision!
Budding Rose ~ Thank you for stopping by! Nannbugg comes from two different nicknames I had as a child. My dad would call me bug when I was very little, because my eyes have always been so big! Nan is what he called me, a variation of the second part of my first name: Ann! Glad you came by, we have fun over here. Come by again, you are welcome here anytime!
Rob ~ You are right, we should have been developing alternatives!
Jiggs ~ No snowmen for them!
Sabatkes ~ Yeah, it looks like a pretty cool development. I think they should build one of those here in the south!
Hippo ~ Wow, glad Birdman didn't get fired. Did you get that thing I sent?
Phil ~ Oh, sorry! Do you need some visine for that eye?
This makes you think. Now they want to control the ports here. What's next
Dubai is an obscene playground for the worlds elete. They are building playgrounds, built by slaves, staffed by slaves, in a country which is grossly over populated, which has to import 95% of it's food, and they are consuming vast amounts of a rapidly dwindling resourse which can not be replaced by hydrogen or any other form of energy.
When the oil runs out, their golf clubs and indoor parks and shopping centers and hotels for the ultra rich will bake and those desert will go back to the kind of population that deserts can support.
This is a disease people.
Well, that does seem to be a bit much. From what I'm told it puts Las Vegas to shame. But, when you look at it that way we're the pot calling the kettle black. But, I would love to go to Dubai simply for the Belly Dancers.
Shannon ~ I know, at this point we are pretty dependent on it!
Stone ~ Intense, isn't it?
Tich ~ It does look like something for the Ultra rich!
AI ~ Ahhhh, the belly dancers. There is a restaurant here that has belly dancers every Thursday night. I keep telling boyfriend we need to go! Unfortunately, he currently has school on Thursday nights, but eventually we will make it there.
Its all about the money. Until we get someone in the White House that has the balls to do something about this crap we are just bent over that barrel.
Everytime I think I can defend humans as being part of nature they go and do something like that. Skiing in the desert? What next, sun tanning at Antarctica?
Don't forget our own oil companies are complicit in this... they turned massive, record-setting profits during the past year. Blood-sucking bastards.
Trucker ~ Money, it all boils down to that doesn't it!
Andy ~ I think I would visit a skiing building like that if it were in the south ;) I wish it would snow a little here!
Dave ~ You are absolutely right!
I know that polar bear! And I don't believe that he would be part of this willingly. This is a giant pyramid scheme, orchestrated from the highest levels of corporate government! I want to speak to my Congressman about this, but I just know what the response will be from his office: "I can't let you talk to the Congressman until you give us your name."
To which I'd reply: "You can have my name when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers!"
THAT IS CRAZY!!! I do wanna go there just to ski.. to bad we dont have something like that here.. bummer
Gyro ~ Oh your fingers are dead? I am sad!
Kay Ray ~ I know, that would be cool, right!
HI BABY! GUESS WHO?
Hey T!!!!! So glad to see you!
Yeah, I've seen this in my email... I really can't wait for the day that the world is no longer dependent on their oil. I have reservations about sending so much money to people who would like to kill us.
Cappy ~ I would like to say that is great about the $1.99, but that is still outrageous even though it is much better than it has been!
I think the snow park is a great concept for here!
Nilo ~ I know...unfortunately we have no other plan at this time!
Boy, Lee Ann, with that suggestion on going to see Belly Dancers you sure make him a good Girl Freind. It's beautiful to watch.
AI ~ I am sure they are beautiful to watch, even their costumes are beautiful. What could be more lovely than watching a girl with curves make her curves curve!!!! ;)
It pains me to look at those pictures and know that is why we pay high prices.
Angel ~ Yes, it is painful!
alright baby, i found a bear suit which i will be wearing. promise it won't be too warm down south now!
Jams ~ Wooh! Now I cannot promise it won't be too hot down here....uh, oh, I mean the weather is pretty cool right now, yeah!
Awww, Jams, you are too cute!
ok, that's it, i can be there in 3 hours!
Really is that all? That is really not too bad. Hmmmm....
That place is out of control.
That's obscene
Budding Rose ~ I am glad you have come over. I know, that is Jamwall, he does move like that!!! haha
SG ~ No doubt!
hey BR! i have one of your dad's grills!
man that george foreman can sell a product!
Jams ~ so you will be here when I wake up, right! Cya in the morning, hope you have a great flight to Birmingham! ;)
BT ~ Haha, your comment was not there last night...very strange, it appeared this morning! Yes, you are right, just completely wild, isn't it!
