Wonder if he is still mad!

Have you ever had someone tailgate you before?
It is so annoying.
Not to mention it is dangerous.
I know that when someone does that, it usually means they are in a hurry and want you to speed up. Guess what? It doesn't make me speed up. In fact, it irritates me so much, that I do completely the opposite.
There is one particular incident that stands out for me.
One night, I was on my way home, driving the speed limit, just minding my own business. All of the sudden a guy comes up behind me and starts riding my bumper. He was obviously very impatient and started honking.
Well, that really didn't sit well with me, so I gradually slowed down, way down.
I never stomped the brakes (something I know people do) and I tried to remain calm.
We came upon an intersection in which we both made a right turn onto a 4 lane road.
I immediately got back up to the speed limit as he went to the left lane in order to pass me. What he didn't know was that my boyfriend was ahead of me and had slowed down when he had not seen me for a while.
He saw what was happening through his rearview mirror.
Just as the guy was coming up along side of me, my boyfriend moved to the left lane, which blocked the guy from passing me.
At that point my boyfriend and I both slowed down and drove together, which kept him in a blocked position.
I don't think the guy liked that very much, as he threw his arms up and honked at my boyfriend.
We were approaching the intersection to turn.
My boyfriend slowly moved over behind me as we began to make a right turn, and the guy made it to the intersection only to be stopped by a red light.
As we made our turn, he sat at the red light, gesturing, yelling and honking.
The timing of everything was impeccable, and of course he had no clue that we even knew each other.
You know what "they" say about patience!
My boyfriend and I still laugh and say every so often...."wonder if he is still mad".
Slow down and be safe!

I'd be scared he'd shoot me! Hotboy p.s. doesn't having all those guns around make everyone dead polite?

When people walk around or cycle, they smile at each other and are super polite. People in cars get angry with each other and try and harm one another. The best solution to this I heard was to have a big spike that shoots out of the steering wheel directly into the heart of the driver on any slight impact. Another good idea would be to humiliate children who are driven to schools by their parents. The best idea of all would be to scrap the horrible stinking violent machines all together.

I have a similar problem. I usually go five over the speed limit on the highway when I go home from work. I always have some yahoo, pissed off that I am in the right lane and not going 80! It is stupid, really.

Makes you wanna slap some people doesn't it?

Rasta loves that story, lol. I piss 'em off every chance I get ... got one today, as a matter of fact, flipped the sucker off, too, after I slowed his ass to a crawl! Then I stoked one up so I could relax a little. Hah!

Once had a tailgater go after me while I was on my Triumph (motorcycle). He'd speed up to catch me as I negotiated a curve, then I would speed away as the road straightened. Eventually I got to a local police station pulled over, got off, and just stood there trying to cut as imposing figure as I could as if to say "Now come and get me mother-f*cker!".

Though I'm not a big guy, but I guess 30 lbs of motorcycle leather makes me look imposing because he looked sheepish and sped off. Course it might also have been the two police cruisers I parked between.

I drive 88

Anyone who drives 89 or higher gets feces thrown at them.

That's right. Sons of bit****.

All of them.

Oh man! I feel ya, girlie! I do that all the time to ppl that tailgate me! Infuriates the heck outta them! I'll slow way down and if they successfully pass me, I'll get right back in front of them and slow down again. I'll keep at it until I think they have gotten the point.

..and I hope he's *still* mad!

BTW, your HNT had me singing "physical"!

I just heard that the Federal Reserve 'plan' is to de-value the dollar by half. You can look forward to fewer people on the road and driving at a much more leasurly pace.

Lee Ann - Yup, everybody is in a hurry these days. They need to get to that red light 2 seconds ahead of you and wait.

Neo shakes his head

Well done!

I slow down too, not to annoy the tailgater but in the hope he/she will pass. But what these people really need is anger management therapy. And I'd like to give them my own brand of therapy.

It is truly amazing the lack of patience most people have nowdays. I love to time the lights just right and pass the idiots who flew by me to get to the redlight not knowing if they drive the speed limit that every light here in town will change accordingly.....saves me gas and lets them support Arabs ....I also love to mess with the tailgaters too....see how good their foot-to-brake reflex is when I stop quickly...."I have insurance...do you?"

Just remember the first rule of driving etiquette: dry clean only.

you know, i am usually a pretty calm driver and just try to stay out of people's way. i can't say that i've ever given anyone the finger. however, the other day, i was riding with Dave i had a near-death experience when somebody tried to pass him and he had to show the other guy who was really in charge.

i'm walking from now on.

Thank God I am never in that much of a hurry anymore!

Well, I am not mad anymore Leann. I was trying to get close enough to apologize for tailing you that long. and those gestures, I was dancing to the YMCA. HA! Okeh that was lame haha

I hate people who don't use turn signals! UGH!

A few years ago when that happened to me, I ended up getting out of the car at some lights. I remember approaching the guy in the car behind me, and I remember waking, lying on the road.

Turns out he was a boxer.
