Tennis anyone?

More interesting photos of recreation in Dubai.

Andre Agassi and Roger Federer are playing on a tennis court at a hotel in Dubai over by Saudi Arabia.
These pictures are amazing, especially the last one.

My guess is that they don't chase the balls.

The tennis court is on top of the hotel.

Gosh, that just makes me queasy looking at it.
I had experience similar to that once. I remember standing in the bar at the top of one of the World Trade Towers in NYC. The windows went from floor to ceiling. When I stood up next to the window and looked down, I felt as though I was standing on the edge with nothing in front of me. It sure made my stomach do somersaults.

There's a bar on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building in Chicago. Fun to have a drink in at night.

I don't think I'd play tennis up there.

My stomach is turning just looking at the pix. Sheesh, you'd never get me up there for some serve and volley.

Hey DMB just started playing on my laptop when I opened your page. That is so cool! Gave me chills.

Gaaaaaaah!
Holy scary-ass-tennis-courts, Batman!

I don't think I could even stand on that court! I am super afraid of heights. I'm afraid of tripping and accidentally falling over the edge. I'm clumsy like that. It could happen.

Shannon brings up such a good question doesn't she? I'd be a little afraid to walk around under that building.... never mind going to the top. Certainly not a place to play tennis if you suffer from vertigo, huh?

I've been to the top of the Empire State Building, but the walls go up far enough that tripping isn't likely... but you still feel like you are at the edge of the world regardless.

BTW~ just wanted to let you know the The Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park in ATL is April 7-9, and Edwin McCain is one of the free concerts.

I wondered why I kept finding tennis balls in the fish I buy.

Andy ~ Oh, I imagine that would be a great place to have a drink!

Glib ~ I know what you mean...makes me queasy too! Glad you like the DMB!

Damasta ~ I know, I would probably trip just because it is so high! I couldn't do it either.

Shannon ~ That is a good point. Those little tennis balls could be like little bombs from that distance.

Ellen ~ Oh wow, I really want to come now! I adore Edwin McCain.

Hippo ~ It's a bargain...a bonus! ;)

Phil ~ Amazing, moving me to tears!

Mojo ~ Hey! EXACTLY! It is CRAZY, isn't it?

I remember standing on top of the John Hancock building in Boston during a field trip once.

Shortly thereafter they started enforcing the "Don't Drop Pennies" rule.

The World Trade Centre? That rings a bell! Interesting scenario. Say something happened behind you. Big fire. No escape. It's as hot as hell. Would you burn and die for sure, or would you jump? I'd hope to jump. It's not suicidal to jump. It's another experience. One to add. Maybe an angel would save you. It could be life affirming to jump. You could jump into the fire. Everything about becoming a human being tells you to jump. Are you jumping or sticking? Hotboy

ewwwwww. I have a fear of heights. I'd collapse in a cold sweat and they'd have to pry me off the carpeting to get me back in the elevator.

I imagine the golf balls could kill a passerby when they build up the velocity!

Nice view but I have a fear of heights- actually it's a fear of jumping.

I'm surprised the wind up there doesn't make it impossible to play tennis!

I have been to the john hancock building bar.

Also the ghost bar in vegas has a whole in the floor of the deck to look down at the huge drop.

I loved it at the top of the WTC... hard to believe the towers are gone.

I actually can't beieve that anyone woulde play tennis up there - an overhit ball would probably kill a passer-by!

When I was in HS we had to play tennis during the summer, tennis and softball I think, or track or something. Needless to say, there's only one contact sport which involves balls that I'm fabulous at, tennis...not being it.

I was so terrible that my teacher finally took pity and made me permanent ball receiver. "Just go get those for people honey...that's fine." hahaha.

Gyro ~ Oh, I can understand why there was the "Don't drop pennies" rule!

Trucker ~ Me either!

Hotboy ~ I don't know that I would jump...it almost seems as though you would be giving up! I just don't know. It is scary to think about.

Saur ~ I am the same...they would have to peel me up from the carpet to get me down.

Poly ~ I have a fear of both as well!

Jiggs ~ The John Hancock building bar sounds cool! The bar at the top of the old World Trade Center rotated. There is a restaurant at the top of a building in Atlanta that does that too...can't remember the name of it though.

wdky ~ I agree the top of the WTC was awesome. It was so high up that the elevators swayed the higher you got!

Alex ~ Wow that ia an interesting comparison.

Tich ~ Wild isn't it?

Stone ~ I know...me too!

Jams ~ Oh, that would be so freaky. Surely those are nets that surround the top area!

Alecia ~ Haha...I can feel it. I have never been a good tennis player, or bowler either!

I don't do heights... not like that. I mean airplanes are ok, but for some reason I can't do tall things (buildings, bridges, cliffs, towers, etc) without a whole lot of working up to it. No thanks.

I did the same thing at the World Trade Center. I felt like I was going to fall and had to move back just a little.

LA - superb pics, stunning and a little disturbing.

LA and HB - I practice every week jumping into the cold pool after I come out of the sauna. Do you thank that helps?

Lee Ann said...

Mike ~ I completely understand! Me too.

BT ~ Oh wow, you are the first person I have talked to that has done that same thing! Cool!

Boo ~ So glad you are back, I have been checking on you. I missed you too.

Rob ~ Yes the pictures are quite spectcular. My dad has always taken a hot shower, then turned it completely cold. He has done that my whole life. He said it is good for the skin, but I am not sure myself!

I wonder how much money was wasted on building that?

Lee Ann said...

Beckeye ~I am sure we had a hand in paying for the building via increased gas prices.
